With falling temperatures ahead of us for the next few days, don’t forget to open the cabinet doors under your kitchen sink and under your lavatories.  This allows heat to go to those spaces and helps keep the pipes from freezing.

If you live in a pier and beam home make sure all foundation vent covers are on.

Cover all outside faucets with a towel and put a bucket over the pipes.

If your pipes are frozen here are some tips:

1. Make sure you know where the main water shut off is for the house.

2. Turn on affected faucets and leave them on so you will know when your pipes thaw out.

3. When you notice water coming out of the faucet, shut the faucet off.  If you continue to hear water running after the water is shut off is it likely you have a freeze break.    If this is the case, you need to shut the water off to the house and please give us a call at (214) 753-4633 and we will be happy to help you.

Lastly – if your pipes are frozen we recommend that you do not leave your house unattended without shutting the water off to your home, this will minimize any water damage that might occur from a freeze break.
