When winter comes and you need to heat your home, you can easily get frustrated by the more commonly known forms of home heating—oil or gas furnaces, electric baseboard heating and heat pumps. You may find that some parts of your house are always colder than others. You may find yourself sneezing and coughing as fans blow collected dust and allergens into the air. You might want to consider Hydronic floor heating, especially if you are building a new home or commercial building.

What is Hydronic Floor Heating?

With Hydronic floor heating, you have a boiler that heats water and sends it throughout your house, to your baseboards, to radiators and to radiant tubing in the floors and ceilings in your home. The boiler generally operates on gas or propane. You can also use the hot water from the boiler for sinks and showers, dishwashers and even to heat a pool.

The Benefits of a Hydronic Floor Heating System

  • With a Hydronic heating system, your heat is more evenly distributed throughout your house. You wont’ have any drafts or cold spots.
  • Because a Hydronic system works by gravity, there’s no forced air, so no movement of dust, pollens or allergens
  • Hydronic systems don’t require any ductwork — the tubes all fit neatly in between the floor joists. You won’t have any registers, cold air returns or vents.
  • With a Hydronic system, you can turn off the flow of water to different zones in the house, regulating the heat room by room, if you choose.
  • You can use the same system to heat your home and provide you with all the hot water you need
  • You’ll never have cold feet again!
