Hot Water Leaks | More than 55 Years of Experience
Have you noticed that, when you fill the sink or the tub, your water has taken on the color of iced tea? If so, chances are good that your tank is rusting, and it’s a distinct possibility that your water heater is at or near the end of its useful life. It may be just a collection of rust and debris, but you want an experienced and knowledgeable plumber to take a close look to make certain you don’t have more serious problems.

Signs of a Leaking Hot Water Heater
If there’s a pool of water around the bottom of your water heater, you have a leak, but there can also be less-obvious signs that your water heater may need to be replaced.
- Are you not getting any hot water to the sink or shower, or has the water become noticeably cooler?
- Have you had to relight the pilot? A dripping water heater can extinguish the pilot light
- Is your pressure release valve dripping?
- Is your water heater damp to the touch? It’s insulated, so it should never sweat or bleed.
What Should You Do If Your Water Heater is Leaking?
Before you do anything else, turn off the water to heater by turning the valve on the cold water side of water heater to the off position. Once that’s done, turn off the gas or electricity to the water heater and call our offices. We’ll send one of our licensed and insured plumbers out as soon as possible, so that the full extent of the problem can be quickly diagnosed. If we can repair the unit, we will. Otherwise, we’ll install a new water heater as soon as we can.
